In the past two years I worked together with my aunt on her webshop. She recently started her own business “Highlights Tenerife Excursions” selling excursions, adventure trips and event tickets on Tenerife, Spain.
What I find especially remarkable is the fact that my aunt basically started out with very little knowledge about computers and technology in general but quickly learned about servers, hosting providers, ssl certificates and SEO. Working together via Skype we started out by creating a standard wordpress page adding new features every month. Throughout the two years we also spent a lot of time discussing what the webpage should look like, which payment companies to partner with and how to categorize products.
I usually took care of the design part and helped with all the technical aspects in the back end of the store while my aunt dilligently created awesome product descriptions, searched for amazing pictures and translated all texts into English. Right now she is also working on a French translation of her webpage.
