April has been a tough month for me. Due to some exams a had difficulties sticking to my running routine. I am still happy that I have managed to start running long distances more regularly again. My goal is to run a half marathon by the end of May now. I am pretty confident that this is doable.
Usually I prefer running around the Berzdorf lake whenever I am up for a long run in Görlitz. This time however it was forbidden to park close to the lake due to the virus 🙁 I still like this route though. It has a pretty smooth start as the track leads slightly downwards in the beginning until you reach Neisse river. Later continues through and around a lot of parts of the town on roads usually not frequented by a lot of cars.
This is one of my favourite trails in Görlitz. It leads through nice and silent park called Löhnscher Grund. The path contains a few challenging hights but grants possibilities for recovery as it is a round course. I like using this track as a benchmark to measure my improvements.
This has been my first long run since a while. I felt pretty good by just finishing and did not intend to break any special time.
In Dresden I believe one of the best places for intervals is the park “Großer Garten”. One round is almost 6km. I like doing 5x500m dashes with 500m recovery jogs in between. Lately I managed to stay at 4:30 for the fast parts with an average around 5:35. This will probably become one of the benchmark courses I will be using when my practice continues.
