Project Marathon #1

Project Marathon #1

Alright, I hope I don’t regret this one 😀

Finishing a marathon has always been a dream of mine since I participated in my first half marathon in 2014.
Now that sounds horrible, doesn’t it? I didn’t make it in almost 6 years.
Well, it’s not that bad. To be honest I never tried and I guess this is the main reason why most people never achieve anything or reach their goals. They never try. During my exchange year in the United States my teacher in computer science tought us: “You never know how far you can go unless you try.” That’s why I now decided to put my excuses aside and start this blog series in order to fully commit to my goal of finishing a 42,2 km long race.

What can you expect from this series of articles?
Well, I want to use it as one way to keep myself accountable and to share my athletic progress with you guys. Recently I joined a club in Dresden called “Laufgruppe Dresden” (Runners group Dresden) which organizes workouts on each Tuesday and Thursday. I will also try to regularly get in some kind of cross fit exercices on the weekends in order to ideally prepare for the race.

Which marathon race would you like to participate in?
Frankly speaking, I don’t know yet. I would like to run a race during March or April because I believe during this time of the year the weather conditions are perfect for running and I would rather like to prepare for such a hard race during the cold winter than during a hot summer. However I also need to find a race next to the place where I live and one which is not directly before my exams at the end of April which makes it really hard. As I mentioned earlier I am sick of bringing up excuses like those anymore though. I ultimately decided to achieve my goal at least by the end of 2020. So stay tuned in order to learn more about where I am going to run 😉

When can we expect first results?
During the next weeks I am going to start posting about my successes and setbacks regarding my workouts and will also share my favourite running trails from Strava. If you cannot wait for my first article, you can already follow me there. In order to not miss out on any updates just sign-up for my newsletter.

I am looking forward to your comments and advise in the commentary section below 😉

Yours,
Moritz
